About me
Hi, I’m Julie Chahboune, founder of Senior Smart Home.
Around 2021, one of my family members began exhibiting signs of dementia. Eventually, this individual was diagnosed with mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease. They wanted to stay in their current home but our family was worried about their safety and well-being. As someone who has always loved technology I asked myself, “How can I combine smart home technology with existing ’age tech’ to enable my loved one to remain at home, while providing peace of mind to concerned family members?” Senior Smart Home was born as a result. After experimenting with various setups and products, my siblings and I were able to manage our family member’s medication schedule, prevent wandering behaviors, and provide interventions as needed to keep them safe and happy in their home.
Nearly 90% of individuals over 65 want to remain in their current home. And why wouldn’t they? Home is a safe, familiar place and it’s natural (and healthy) to want to remain close to the community and support systems one has spent years building. Technology is making it possible to age-in-place without sacrificing safety, connection or peace of mind. As a “company of one”, I provide personal and highly customizable solutions using products that I’ve personally researched and used. Let me show you how a few simple-to-use-devices can help to support communication, manage medication, prevent injuries, and enable quick response in case of an emergency.
